Abstract

Highly automated driving technologies will support “collision-free” and “stress-free” movement of people and goods in future after 2030 (POST 2030). Many people will be able to feel “joy and freedom of mobility” in their daily life. At this moment, there are two routes of automated driving technology as shown in the figure below. The route 1 is for personal use cars and the route 2 for mobility and delivery services. The system for the route 1 was released as driving support system in highway and its autonomous level will be updated from Level2 to Level5 step by step while keeping wide operational design domain (ODD). In the meantime, the route 2 focuses on delivery and mobility services and aims to realize driverless driving by limiting ODD and using infrastructure. The service area of route 2 system will be expanded step by step. In this panel discussion, panelists will introduce latest automated driving technologies and their vison for the route 1 or the route 2, and discuss bright future realized by using automated driving cars
