Abstract

Abstract: In order to improve the lateral stability of steer-by-wire vehicles during steering, a hierarchical control structure for the steer-by-wire system is proposed. The upper layer addresses the uncertainty disturbances by designing an Active Front Steering (AFS) sliding mode variable structure control, resulting in a compensated front wheel steering angle. This adjustment corrects the yaw rate, enhancing robustness and response speed. The lower layer designs a front wheel angle tracking control strategy based on global fast terminal sliding mode to follow the reference front wheel angle obtained from the upper controller, ensuring that the vehicle's sideslip angle and yaw rate converge to their desired values. Finally, joint simulations with Simulink and Carsim demonstrate that the vehicle exhibits excellent stability control performance under various steering conditions.
