Abstract

HEV is a vehicle driven by two power sources, an engine and a motor, and fuel economy can be improved through an optimal energy management strategy. Robust predictive control is a simple design method for energy management of HEV and is considered to be a fuel-efficient method. In this paper, we propose a new robust predictive control method that not only improves fuel economy, but also reduces the ON-OFF switching of the engine and uses electrical energy of the motor more efficiently. This method is more realistic, practical, and efficient. We also verify that the proposed method improves fuel efficiency compared to conventional robust predictive control methods through numerical simulations.
