Abstract

In this article, we present a detailed investigation into the influence of the ferromagnetic core’s tip geometry on the magnetic field generated by an electromagnet. Various tip shapes are assessed in terms of field magnitude, linearity, and uniformity. We propose extended tip designs as a novel contribution, achieving up to a 36% increase in magnetic field strength compared to conventional cylindrical cores. Furthermore, we examine the impact of these geometries in multi-coil setups.
